There is a saying:

You always remember your first

In this case, the first is remembering going to the desert for a week where I didn’t know anyone.

Well, the second time going out to the desert was absolutely magical - where I knew a couple of people and you were one of the only people I knew that lived in the same city together.

What made the second time magical was that even in the great expanse of the desert, you made effort to find me - to make space for me in that week. We danced, we got lost from each other, we found each other, you made space for my friends too - it was truly magical.

I went back to the desert afterwards and you stayed - part of me felt you wanted to end on a high note. If that was the last time I was ever in the desert, that would be the experience I want to keep.

I am glad we experienced that week together - absolutely magical. Part of me always wants every weekly desert trip to be like that, heck, everyone I talked to wants a trip like that.

Thank you for giving me such an awesome week in the desert. Present me is dancing in those memories.
