Burpee Workout Notes: Aligning with Goal
These are workout notes - they start from this post
When asked: “What’s your goal?” when working out, this caused:
😮💡
Moment in me. I understood why I was looking to workout and it came to this:
I want to workout so I can play with my kids all day and have a good cardiovascular system that at night, I do not snore so loud my wife needs me sleep in the other side of the house.
Once I articulated this, I knew why I loved my burpee workout. The physical challenge was the whole body, improved my cardiovascular system without me leaving the house, and I could get it done in fifteen minutes, give or take.
So with that goal, I dialed the intensity back. I started getting completion times in the 12 minutes range instead of pushing for sub-10 minutes (my first session took 18 minutes!)
I let myself scale down the effort, skipping jumps or thrusts during the burpees.
I also went back to focusing on form too, getting a split second plank in the burpee instead of going straight from landing into a push up.
All of this thanks to aligning with my goal - working out to be with my family more.
