Burpee Workout Notes: Keep Eyes Open

This is a series of notes from doing a burpee workout. The first starts here.

When I have a work out that is hard, repetitive, and I know what’s next, there is a great temptation for me to just:

Close my eyes and get through this set

In reality, this is the wrong thing to do! When working out, keep your eyes open, even if the workout is hard, your body can’t take the stress, and you just want to “rest”.

By closing your eyes, you lose form, counting, and most importantly, presence.

One of the great experiences of working out is for one to connect with their body. When things are hard, tiring, and tempted to give up - that’s essential feedback the body is sending.

Instead of closing your eyes, slow down, reduce the intensity, enjoy the workout, be present, and connect with your body.

Your body has important information to communicate to the mind - keep your eyes open and accept this information.

Next, I share why taking your time in workout is important.
