Hacking on Rd.io at Spotify - Stay the Night

When I got to the Spotify NYC hackathon, I had no idea what to work on. I didn’t even look at the Spotify API.

I learned from SpaceApps NYC, putting that pressure on myself to “succeed” made it harder for me to reverse course when things did not go according to the initial plan.

I applied the opposite approach at TechCrunch Disrupt NYC and had a better experience at all levels. I went in with no plan and well, the only way was up!

The only requirement was that I stay the whole time. Any hackathons that were “over night” were way better than 9-9 hackathons. I would never return after the first night and well, after getting home to sleep, I would just not do any more work.

My preference were for hackathons that went all night in the same location. To really get the juices going in a cloudy haze of coding.

Another requirement I had was hack on hackathon sponsor APIs.
